Notes Concerning Resume

We are pleased to offer our tips and suggestions listed below, which may help you write your CV.

Personal Data

Surname and Name Address Phone E-mail Optionally you may add your age (date of birth), marital status and a photograph.

Professional Profile

It is a brief (3 to 6 lines) summary of your key strengths/accomplishments and the kind of position you are seeking. This can be especially important if you are applying for a position outside of your direct career background. It is advised to use keyword-terms which can easily be spotted by a person who is just having a look at the CV.

Education

Name of institution, degree/designation, specialization and date acquired; in the format including month and year in Arabic numbers. For example 07.1999 - 10.2003 instead of 1999 - 2003.

Professional Experience

In reverse chronological order, list your most recent experience first. Dates of the beginning and end of work at a given position should include information about the month; giving a full 4-digit year makes reading the resume easier; it is also easier to read months written with 2 digits. Avoid gaps in the course of your career. Activities performed outside of proper employment periods may turn out as relevant experience or source of required skills. Write what you did during this period (e.g. trying to start your own business or looking after small children) so that the chronological continuity is maintained.

Company description

Immediately after the company name give a short description of its business activities, industry sector, size and number of employees. You can shorten it for companies where you were employed a long time ago.

Position title

Briefly explain principal duties, responsibilities and the place in the reporting structure. List your achievements and significant projects. You can skip the most obvious facts, concentrating on those which may be the most interesting for the reader.

Trainings and Certificates

Leave out very short or unrelated courses.

Skills

List the technical, manual and soft skills, as appropriate, that you have acquired during your career. The most commonly stated skills are: driving license, language skills and IT related skills.

Interests

Hobbies, sports, etc. are an interesting additional element - it may be a nice icebreaker when talking to a potential employer.
